Getting Here & Lodging

Getting Here

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport is 20 minutes outside of downtown Minneapolis. Cabs from the airport to downtown run about $35 and car rentals are available, or you can spend a couple bucks and take the Light Rail directly from the airport to downtown, which runs regularly during the day and every half-hour or hour at night or early in the morning. The site of our wedding ceremony and reception is less than a mile from downtown, so if you don't want to rent a car, you should be able to get around by walking and taking public transportation.

Lodging

We have a block of rooms reserved for both Saturday (5/28) and Sunday (5/29) nights at The Westin, located at 88 South Sixth Street, Minneapolis, MN 55401.  The hotel is close to the Nicollet Mall stop on the Light Rail, 20 minutes from the Minneapolis / St. Paul airport, and a mile walk or quick ride to and from the wedding site.  Amenities include free access to their health club with pool and hot tub, iPod dock and 32" LCD TVs in the rooms, and a bathrobe that must be comfortable, since they call it The Heavenly Bathrobe®.  There's a great bar in the hotel lobby, lots of restaurants and bars nearby, and it's where we'll be staying.  Basically, it's The Place To Be.

Rooms (one king or two queens) are available at $124 a night and will be reserved until April 27, 2011. You can reserve by calling 888-627-8343 and asking for the Sherman-Middlebrook wedding block.

If the Westin isn't your cup of tea, there are a number of other downtown lodging options.  For funky and pimp, try The Graves, which is in the heart of downtown. Or, for quaint and charming, check out the The Nicollet Island Inn, a nice little boutique hotel which is located directly across from the ceremony and reception site, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
